The annual agricultural show is held of 3 days every year and National Exhibitors and those from the Eastern Cape and surrounds book their stands, either indoor or outdoor, to market their products. Exhibitors represent a complete cross-section of the South African business sector. An extensive Small Commercial and Craft Market section is demarcated for small business entrepreneurs encouraging local as well as national creative talent to display and sell their craft thereby enhancing & complementing employment in what is traditionally an economically depressed region.
The annual Bathurst Show provides an ideal environment wherein business partnerships are formed - trading opportunities furthered, and the cross-section of idea sharing takes place. In 2008 the Centenary (100th) Show was held with record attendance figures of over 10,000!
Beside the opportunity to exhibit and trade, the Society calls for entries each year through a comprehensive Catalogue (called the Showbuzz) inviting potential participants to compete in their specific field. The categories cover a broad spectrum of farming methods, arts, crafts, and home industries such as a Horse Section - Cattle Section - Small Stock Section - Pineapple Section - Best Conserved Farm - Best Agricultural Invention - Art - Photography - Baking - Home Craft - to name but a few. If you wish to download the Catalogue go to "downloads" on the Main Menu Bar.
Each section is judged according to the highest standards applicable and prizes are awarded in the form of trophies together with items generously donated by local business and the public.
