The Sunshine Coast (Alexandria to the Great Fish River) is home to 10 rivers, 4 Blue Flag beaches, a Blue Flag Marina and many malaria-free game reserves (nearly all hosting the Big-5) and the only National park to host the Big 7 (great white shark and southern right whale). The area is unique in geographical situation and its biodiversity rich, with 5 of the seven biomes found in South Africa meeting on the Sunshine Coast.
Unspoilt beaches and quaint seaside villages makes the Sunshine Coast a popular destination. Exciting water sport opportunites, excellent birding (480 recorded species) world class arts and crafts and a rich cultural history. It was here that the Khoisan, British, Dutch, German and Xhosa first met prior to the Frontier Wars (1779-1879). A number of interesting monuments and museums bear testimony to the history of the area.
There is something for everyone, whether it is activity or relaxation you seek.
