Sister Peters BridgeBack

Sister Rosalie Peters was a midwife at Settlers Hospital Grahamstown and founder and matron of the ‘Albany Private Nursing  Home’ in Grahamstown, during the 1930’s.  She relocated to Port Alfred upon retirement and was elected town councillor. A tireless fund raiser and generous soul, she donated 200 British pounds towards the repair of the “Little Black Bridge” before she died in 1959 at the ripe old age of 80.
